Real Techniques Makeup Brushes
Lets just get it out the way...i don't care what an beauty basher says....hands down i LOVE em....
now everyone has different taste in makeup...how to wear it, how to apply it, how much is too much, what matches what doesn't...on and on...and we all have different opinions of what brushes we like to use also..now are these the ultimate designer brush...no, however i don't think thats what she would put out(at least for her first go )...why ...well because everyone would bitch that they couldn't afford them... nuff said..
Kit One- The Core Collection
This kit comes with 4 brushes all super soft , synthetic and so far do not shed
from left to right
1. Contour brush
2. Pointed foundation brush
3. Detailer brush
4.Buffing brush
so yes i like all of them... i have not, and most likely will not use the foundation brush for putting on my foundation, i happen to use that brush on myself for concealer..that's not to say it cant be used for a hundred other things.(cream bases, eye primer,lotion,etc)..remember use your product in a way that works best for YOU..The detailer brush is great i have used it to cover tiny pimples, to apply lipstick, cream and powder eye liner under the eye a million uses for this tin brush. The buffer brush i actually love for bronzing, blush ,foundation and finishing powders. its not so extremely dense that you get too much product on the brush. Finally the contour brush, what can i say it does what it says very good for contouring also great for highlighting the face and no surprise here it has worked pretty well when i used this for foundation and large area concealing for hyper-pigmentation.
KIT 2- STARTER SET
This Kit comes with 5 brushes - All are synthetic and super soft..so far do not shed....from left to right
1. Deluxe crease brush
2.Base shadow brush
3.Accent brush
4. Pixel point eye liner brush
5.Brow brush
The deluxe crease is great for blending out eye shadows and building up color in the outer v, i have also used this for under eye and around the nose concealing. The base shadow brush deposits color good on the eye and also blends Shadow well in the crease. It works well blending out NYX jumbo pencils also. The accent brush is GREAT for depositing inner eye and under eye shadow, once again i have used this brush for concealing tin pimples and for applying lipstick. The pixel point eye liner brush i have only used for glitter eyeliner so far but gets right on the lash base and gives an even line, its not super stiff so it works with you and your movement of the product. The brow brush is extremely soft and will not pack on the product when using brow powder...i was unsure how well it would work at first because its very pliable and i am used to using a bit stiffer brush for brows , but was pleasantly surprised at how well it did.
Now the detailer brush and the accent brush do look similar however the (orange) detailer brush's hair is about 1 centimeter longer and it has a domed, pointed shape to it. The accent (purple) brush is more of a slight soft domed shape, it is definitly rounded off compared to the detailer brush. I think the cases that they come with are a great idea. They are slightly paded on the front cover and have a velcro closure. They do have a hard cardboard in the middle to keep their form and are easily cleaned off with a makeup wipe or wet cloth because the are a soft vinyl material. Both cases have extra elastic spots so you can bring other brushes with you..each case can hold more than it comes with which i think is very convenient for travel..Each case folds 2 ways, the way i have shown you in the picture, all you have to do is release the togle and it will not stand up anymore and it will close like a book would.Overall im pleased with the 2 kits i bought the brushes work how they are described to work and also in other methods of applying makeup. If your looking for hand carved wood brushes then these are not for you, however if your looking for brushes that are extremely affordable and work well applying various makeup products then you definetly can't beat these. At ulta i believe each kit is $14.99 and if you get the ulta ad in the mail theres always a $3.50 off or 20% off coupon on the front, you absolutly cant complain.
Remember this review is just my opinion and in no way am i compensated for the review that i give, i ust thought it may help out some people looking for some good brushes
take care
